The range of the LifeLine depends on environmental conditions, how high it is held, and the height of the receiving antenna. At sea level, the range to a skiff can reach up to 5.5 miles (~9 km). The maximum demonstrated range is 34 miles (~55 km), achieved when transmitting to a hilltop Canadian Coast Guard transceiver.

Every LifeLine is programmed at our factory with an Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI) number, enabling AIS functionality as soon as you turn your unit on.

The ECC/DEC/(22)02 regulation, which restricts AIS Channels 1 and 2 to Class M compliant devices, came into effect on January 1, 2025, in some European countries.

Full AIS alert will be transmitted. DSC alert will be sent first to your programmed ship MMSI. After 30 minutes, transmission will switch to your programmed group MMSI.
